WHAT IS DESIGN:GREEN? Design:Green is an initiative of J.Ottman Consulting focused on sustainable product design. Its mission is to transform business by helping to catalyze the development of products and packaging that are at once sustainable, innovative, profitable, and able to compete in the global marketplace.

Initially created under an EPA Grant and endorsed by the IDSA, Design:Green delivers workshops and customized consulting services to:

  • designers
  • strategic planners
  • marketers
  • R+D
  • engineers
  • and others involved in new product development.

Curricula is ideal for businesses addressing Wal-Mart's 5% Packaging Scorecard Initiative and similar customer demands.

Workshop experiences taught by industry experts are offered as on-site corporate sessions, or public sessions typically conducted through design schools and conferences. We offer:

  • full-day workshops
  • half-day workshops
  • 90 minute "Jumpstart" sessions
  • 45-minute talk with Q&A

Design:Green—Eco-Design and Green Marketing
A 1 credit course created for Minnesota College of Art & Design's Certificate in Sustainable Design online program. Serving the needs of designers and others involved in new product development, business, marketing, strategy and sustainability, this highly instructive and informative course spotlights strategies for using eco-design to trigger profitable new products, concepts, and business models. An ideal introduction to eco-design for businesses attempting to address Wal-Mart's 5% Initiative and similar customer demands.
